About Show Pro
Show Pro was a five year design of Jeff Surratt and Duane Marrs. With Duane's
mechanical "know how"; this was definitely a great pairing. These two were
constantly compiling input from the top players in the steel guitar industry, to make
the best guitar available. Duane had 40+ years in the Nashville area and had
maintained and repaired practically every type of steel guitar made. From this he
drew information and ways to make service on your guitar easy. With the "Marrs"
system adjustments can be walked through over the phone or via e-mail; if you ever
need assistance.
Jeff Surratt...
While growing up in Charlotte, NC, Jeff began playing the steel at age 14; and
working in music stores at age 15, learning about all types of instruments and repairs.
Little did he know he would be building his own steel guitar one day. While in
Charlotte, Jeff recorded many sessions and played with the Moody Brothers.
Since moving to Nashville, Jeff has been an active musician. Jeff was a member of
the house band at the well known Stockyard in 1996 and 1997. While there he
backed such artists as Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, The Oak Ridge Boys and many
others. He has also toured with several artists including Deryl Dodd, Sherrie' Austin,
Clay Davidson, The Wilkinsons, Tommy Shane Steiner, Jeff Bates and most recently
Josh Turner. Jeff and his Show Pro can be heard on the "Josh Turner Live at the
Ryman" CD, that is available through Cracker Barrel.
After several years of touring, Jeff is now off the road and dedicating his energies to
this new guitar full time.
A.J. Nelson...
A.J. left Sikeston, MO where he was supervisor in a toy factory, and followed his
brother Doyle to Nashville in July of 1965. A.J. has been repairing and finishing
instruments since then. A.J. was the repairman for Sho-Bud at 416 Broadway;
while Margaret his wife, worked for Music City Mfg a division of Sho-Bud under
David Jackson. It is Shot Jackson that A.J. attributes his skill and knowledge of this
craft. So far, A.J. has done all of the Show Pro custom finishes. If you can imagine
a finish, A.J. can do it.
John Stokes...
Duane was behind adding John to the Show Pro team. John is a masterful machinist
and cabinet builder; he makes everything very precise. In addition to building our
Show Pro cabinets, John is building pack-a- seats and speaker cabinets. John is
also active in sound and audio with the Nashville Cowboy Church and the Midnight
Jamboree.
